"Until you dig a hole, you plant a tree, you water it and make sure it survives, you haven't done a thing. You are just talking". ~Wangari Maathai
Canopy Live Oak Tree GrantAvailable to Mount Dora Residents up to $300
Plus FREE Delivery! Approved applicants can purchase a live oak for half the estimated cost of up to $300 for planting in the old town of Mount Dora, west of 441. This grant aims to provide affordable shade trees to homeowners and business owners to restore tree cover in neighborhoods.
The Canopy Live Oak Tree Grant program will increase the tree canopy cover in the old town of Mount Dora west side of 441. Studies have repeatedly shown trees help to capture stormwater and reduce runoff, improve water quality, improve air quality, beautify communities, increase property values, reduce heating and cooling costs, and improve human health. Mount Dora Friends of the Environment’s goal is to place 100 trees across the city through this grant program and other donations from homeowners, business owners, and friends of the environment. The tree grant includes tree and delivery only. It does not have tree supplies (e.g., stakes, ties, mulch, watering/gator bags, tree guard, etc.), site preparation, or planting. You are responsible for any tree maintenance and irrigation after planting it. Maintenance will include watering your tree 15-20 gallons daily for the first month unless it receives at least one inch of rain. Water guides are available. Where do I sign up? Submit an application to [email protected]. One of our volunteers will contact you to help order your tree. Once approved, Mount Dora Friends of the Environment will deliver the tree right to your home or business! Applications, the location of the tree, and the tree size must be reviewed and approved by Mount Dora Friends of the Environment. |
